Celebrate Juneteenth at the Studio Museum in Harlem with a full day of programming rooted in freedom, healing, and community.
Begin your day with movement. Somatic practitioner Tara Aura will facilitate grounding and opening sound and body-based workshops. Then head into the galleries for conversations with our curators about selected works on view.
Later, join an intergenerational dialogue with TeAna Taylor and Stanley “Jamel” Bellamy of Release Aging People in Prisons for an urgent conversation about freedom that extends beyond Juneteenth.
Visitors of all ages can join our drop-in art-making workshops throughout the day for a hands-on exploration of freedom and liberation inspired by David Hammons's African-American Flag (1997) and Untitled (2004).
In the evening, gather on the Stoop for a live performance with Harlem-based pianist Warner Meadows, trumpeter Chris Williams, and percussionist Ezemdi Akalonu.
All are welcome!
