Harlem Renaissance 100 - A Multi-Year Community Celebration
#HarlemRen100
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance, Harlem One Stop, the Harlem Cultural (Tourism) Collaborative, and The Institute for African American Folk Culture, Inc. (IAAFC) are proud to present a dynamic, three-year celebration that honors the lasting cultural impact of this transformative period. Titled Harlem Renaissance 100: Then. Now. Forever. "For The Love of Harlem", this comprehensive series of events will include music concerts, educational workshops, theatrical performances, art exhibitions, and conferences designed to both celebrate and revitalize the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance.
The Harlem Renaissance was a pivotal moment in American history, marking a cultural explosion that shaped the arts, literature, music, and social movements, and continues to influence contemporary culture today. Through this celebration, we aim to reignite the spirit of the Harlem Renaissance by engaging the public in creative and educational experiences that highlight the contributions of African American artists, intellectuals, and cultural leaders.
By showcasing the breadth of the Harlem Renaissance’s impact, we seek to inspire future generations to continue the movement's legacy of creativity, activism, and empowerment. This project will foster community involvement, promote cultural tourism, and contribute to the economic revitalization of Harlem while preserving its artistic and historical heritage.
The primary goal of this project is to engage local, national, and international audiences in the ongoing cultural dialogue inspired by the Harlem Renaissance, creating opportunities for reflection, learning, and artistic expression while celebrating the enduring influence of Harlem’s rich cultural history.
This three-year commemoration will bring together artists, scholars, and community leaders to ensure the Harlem Renaissance continues to inspire, educate, and resonate for generations to come.
