Join for another edition of the Cinque Artist Talk series where we talk with contemporary artists. Next up is Dr. Lorenzo Pace - artist, author, lecturer, master storyteller and performance artist. His works cover a broad range of objects and materials - sculptures, installations and performance art. The artist has received international acclaim and exhibited in galleries and museums all over the world, including New York, Birmingham, AL, and cities in China, Brazil, Senegal, Suriname, Peru, and France.

In 1993, Pace was commissioned to build a monument at New York City’s Foley Square paying homage to the African slaves originally buried on that site. His work resulted in a 300-ton granite sculpture named “Triumph of the Human Spirit.” The artist is also author of four children’s books, including Jalani and the Lock, chosen as a “Best Book” by the Los Angeles Times.

Lorenzo Pace will be in conversation with Lisa Farrington, an award-winning art historian. Dr. Farrington is Distinguished Professor Emerita at CUNY and served as Associate Dean of Fine Arts at Howard University. Farrington won the Andy Warhol Foundation / Creative Capital Arts Writers Prize, the Spelman College / Atlanta University Endowed Chair in the Humanities, three national awards for her Oxford University Press book on the history of African American women artists, and the coveted Kirkus Star Review for her 2025 University of California book Black Artists in Their Own Words.
