Lenfest Kids: Flow - Cats & Dogs Film Screening

Lenfest Kids continues on May 9 with Flow—an animated dystopian adventure about a cat navigating a flooded world. Along the way, the cat gathers a ragtag crew—including a Labrador, a secretary bird, and a capybara (the world’s largest rodent!), as they drift through the remnants of human civilization. The film earned major recognition last year, winning Best Animated Feature at the Oscars and the Golden Globes.

Written and directed by Latvian animator Gints Zilbalodis, this film was developed over five and a half years using the open-source 3D software, Blender. With absolutely no dialogue and an immersive soundscape, the purely visual storytelling of  Flow has a fluid, roaming perspective. The animals behave like animals, giving their journey a sense of animal intelligence and wonder.  Through real animal sounds and subtle physical cues, Flow conveys emotion and connection with striking honesty.

After the screening, join us in the Lenfest lobby for a paper boat and animal origami activity led by CA/T student teachers as we imagine our own adventure crews. As always, Lenfest Kids is free and open to the public.
