The New York Philharmonic announces two events this spring in Take a Breath, the Orchestra’s series of free workshops led by mental health and wellness experts and featuring performances by Philharmonic musicians, followed by optional instrument try-out sessions with Philharmonic Teaching Artists. No music or meditation experience needed!
Love and KindnessSaturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. An exploration of the characteristics of love and what connects us to each other; featuring vocalist Asha Lindsey of the Unsung Collective and Philharmonic Associate Principal Clarinet Benjamin Adler, violinist Yulia Ziskel, Associate Principal Viola Rebecca Young, and Associate Principal Bass Max Zeugner. Mindfulness and Deep ListeningSaturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.An exploration of the wellness benefits of music; featuring Philharmonic violinists Kuan Cheng and Sharon Yamada, violist Vivek Kamath, and cellist Sumire Kudo.These workshops, presented in collaboration with Northwell Health and The Abyssinian Baptist Church — will be facilitated by Oneika Mays, mindfulness expert and author, and Sylvia Földes-Berman, supervisor of creative arts therapy at Northwell Health.
