The Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company is proud to present 'TIED,' the one-man play brilliantly performed by Jason Carmichael, written by Crystal Rae, both recipients of awards and rave notices at the play's premiere in Houston.  Performances Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays on the "Sharing The Stage" series produced by Alpha Omega at their studios at 70 East 4th Street, NYC.

Carmichael portrays Daniel, the father of one of the four young girls killed in the September 16, 1963, KKK bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Alabama.  The horrendous crime galvanized the Civil Rights movement and inspired the passage of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964.   It's not the bombing that playwright Rae focuses on, but its devastating personal aftermath as Daniel recalls his life before and after.  Suffering from shell shock, he tells us of his youth, his marriage, his children, his faith, his many ties to his ancestral home in Africa, and more.  "He's all over the place," notes the Houstonpress.com, and "We listen to his stories like children at the feet of a master storyteller."

JASON E. CARMICHAEL is proud to be recreating the role of Daniel in Crystal Rae's Tied, a role for which he received the Houston Press Best Actor award.  Jason earned a BFA in Theatre from Howard University and has appeared in numerous productions, including Paradise Blue, Front Porch Society (with the National Black Theatre Festival), Fences, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Fetch Clay/Make Man, The Meeting (with Ensemble Theatre), Water by the Spoonful, Black Superhero Magic Mama (with Stages), and Twelfth Night (with Alley Theatre).   In films, he can be seen in the upcoming feature film I Voted.

CRYSTAL RAE (playwright) is a Chicago-born, Houston-based actress who is very active with the Brave Little Company, Main Street Theater, Dirt Dog Theatre Co., and many more.  As a playwright, her works have been produced by Manhattan's Midtown Int'l Theatre Festival and the New York New Works Festival.  Her one-man play Tied  was called a "tour de force" and received rave reviews at its premiere in Houston, including being named  Best New Play by Houston Press.
