The WNET Group presents Honoring Our Stories: Celebrating Black History and Culture. Join us for programs about heritage and traditions, stories of artistry and activism, voices from the civil rights movement, and films from the THIRTEEN archives.
This includes Black and Jewish America: An Interwoven History, a new four-part series from renowned Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. that looks at the rich, complex relationship between Black and Jewish Americans — defined by powerful moments of solidarity and painful episodes of division (February 3 & 10 at 9 p.m.; February 17 at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on THIRTEEN).
Additionally, American Masters premieres Sun Ra: Do the Impossible (February 20 at 9 p.m. on THIRTEEN), a kaleidoscopic portrait of the visionary jazz musician, composer, and poet, while Independent Lens presents The Inquisitor (February 23 at 10 p.m. on THIRTEEN), which explores the life and legacy of Texas congresswoman Barbara Jordan, who transformed U.S. politics, from Nixon’s impeachment to civil rights battles.
