- Johannes Brahms called his requiem a “Human Requiem.” Indeed, the words of his own choosing combine to console, comfort, and lift the souls of the living. Beethoven’s dramatic Leonore Overture No.3 and Carlos Simon’s Elegy: A Cry from the Grave (written to honor the wrongful deaths of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and Michael Brown) make this powerful presentation by the Cathedral Choirs and Orchestra a unique and much-needed moment in time. This concert is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and New York State Legislature. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets range from $45, $75 and $125 and can be purchased here.
