Broadway Mall Association Presents Andrea Arroyo: ImagiNATIONS

Broadway Mall Association (BMA) proudly announces its second Day of the Dead public art exhibition, Andrea Arroyo: ImagiNATIONS. Arroyo is a world-renowned Mexican-American artist, celebrated for her painting, sculpture, and installation work. ImagiNATIONS will feature sixteen of her colorful digital artworks displayed on the Broadway malls between West 155th Street and West 168th Street.

Arroyo’s book ImagiNATIONS: Art as Solidarity won the gold medal for “Best Art Book” at the International Latino Book Awards. The ImagiNATIONS project has been presented in solo exhibitions in New York and internationally, including in France, Italy, Spain, and Turkey. The exhibition features images that address contemporary issues impacting our world, including migration, civil and gender rights, displacement, armed violence, international conflicts, and the environmental crisis. Arroyo's works emphasize the universal values of love, justice, equality, and peace. They aim to build bridges across borders and cultures while encouraging dialogue about global issues.

The artist states: “Witnessing injustice and political turmoil inspires me to create images that document not only the times we live in, but also the beauty and resilience of the most vulnerable communities. For me, creating art is an act of hope in action. My goal in making these works is to inspire individuals and communities to raise their voices in empathy, solidarity, and love, and to take action to create change.”
