Stonewalling Accurate & Inclusive Depictions, or SAID, which aims to aims to bring attention to the ongoing pattern of trans erasure, whitewashing, misgendering and problematic messaging spread in numerous media portrayals, political establishments, and educational institutions regarding the history and multi-movement building surrounding the Stonewall Riots of 1969.
Currently there’s a proposed plaque which will commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion and will be placed on the Inn, yet the draft text twice misuses ‘gay’ as an umbrella term. This leaves out the trans community. Sexual orientation is not the same as gender identity. Since the draft is not permanent we still have a chance to inspire them to revise it to be more inclusive and affirming, and we have been getting a lot of support. We hope we can count on your support as well.
