Harbor Science and Arts Charter School, one of the oldest existing charter schools in New York City, has served East Harlem and the surrounding community since 2000. As we enter our 13th year of operation, we continue to be consistent in outperforming the local district and the state. We remain steadfast in our commitment in serving over 250 students in grades K-8 each year and we pledge to continue to support the public school children of New York City.
So much that is extraordinary about Harbor Charter School is simply understood by walking the hallways. Everyone knows everyone else’s name. Parents are welcomed with smiles and hugs. Our kindergarten students look up to our 8th graders as big brothers and sisters. Our small, individualized learning community hosts an environment of trust, innovation and personal investment by all stakeholders. We are family.
“Harbor Charter equals family to me. The way that all the students, faculty, and families operate together is amazing. We may not be a large school, but we have so much heart.” - Eric Anthony Williams, parent of Eric Jalen Williams
The mission of the Harbor Science and Arts Charter School (HSACS) is to provide students with a high quality education through a rigorous academic program that infuses character building, physical wellness and the arts. Our students will graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in higher learning institutions and have the capability to make a positive contribution to society.
