About Uptown Dance Academy

Our mission is to train students in the performing arts who have a desire to learn a diverse curriculum in the performing arts while instilling a higher level of cultural enrichment, self-discipline, and personal achievement.

Uptown Dance Academy, Inc. is proud to present the best in dance training and professional children’s dance theatre. No other theatrical dance school in New York City offers as many performance opportunities or dance disciplines as the UDA. UDA is not just a dance school that offers professional training in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, acrobatics, hip hop, African, it also offers performance training to minority youths that will prepare them for the professional stage.

Our doors opened to the public in May of 1996 by Robin Williams, founder/director of Uptown Dance Academy, Inc. Since then, we have successfully developed and trained local youths who have never trained before. In a few months time, our children were doing local performances nearly weekly, including full productions such as our annual Black Nutcracker
