Community Connections for Youth is creating a new Youth Opportunity Hub in West and Central Harlem at the Soul Saving Station Church. The Youth Opportunity Hubs are funded by a $45.9 million grant by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s Criminal Justice Investment Initiative (CJII) as part of an ambitious effort to invest resources into communities with historically high rates of youth delinquency and incarceration. The hubs provide comprehensive and coordinated services and opportunities, drawing upon young people’s strengths and addressing multiple risk factors and needs to prevent youth from becoming involved in the criminal justice system.
Community Connections for Youth is partnering with several Harlem-based grassroots organizations to provide a host of services including, but not limited to, employment assistance, intensive mentoring, arts and recreation, trauma-specific services, legal advocacy, and health education to residents of Central and West Harlem.
