**Synopsis:**
A young man faces a pivotal decision: return to his spiritual upbringing or remain with the gang that avenged his father’s murder.
Lamont Spencer, 16, witnessed his father’s murder at the age of 9. Straying from the church and the moral teachings of his upbringing, Lamont joined a gang that provided him solace by avenging his father's death. However, after a traumatic experience, he decides to return to the church. The gang leader, Damon, confronts Lamont, reminding him that the gang, not the church, supported him in his darkest times. With his father’s spirit following him, Lamont finds himself at a crossroads. Rev. Grace and Damon ask him: “Whose Side Are You On?”
Before COVID, Kelsey Productions presented this play at the Goddard Bernie Wohl Center with four (4) consecutive shows in 2019. Our Saturday matinee drew an audience of young people, followed by a panel discussion on the impact of gang and gun violence in our community. After Covid, the musical has been performed five (5) times since November 2023.
