Join us for an exciting lineup of events honoring the rich musical legacy of the Harlem Renaissance, starting this March and continuing throughout the year. From vibrant jazz performances to cultural celebrations, NAMA is proud to host and showcase local artists legends, and emerging talents. Experience the sounds of Harlem and beyond with our weekly music offerings and special events
March 2025
● Weekly: Music of the Diaspora (Monday Nights Jam & Open Mic) Mondays, 7 PM – 11 PM A rotating lineup of diverse bands with special performances by Captain & Nu Gypsies (2nd Monday only). Enjoy an exciting mix of jazz, soul, blues, and world music at our weekly jam sessions and open mic.
● Spring Into Jazz (Wednesdays) March 12, 19, 26 | 9 PM – 12 AM Featuring the Denton Darien Trio, with a focus on female jazz artists as part of the Lady Legends in Jazz, Rhythm & Blues showcase on March 29-30. Celebrate the trailblazing women of jazz and their timeless contributions to the genre.
● Lady Legends in Jazz, Rhythm & Blues March 29-30 | 9 PM – 12 AM A special tribute to the legendary women who shaped the world of jazz and R&B. Experience powerful performances and captivating portrayals of these icons in an unforgettable live show.
● Health Matters in Harlem: National Nutrition Month – Women’s Health March 23 | 1 PM – 3 PM A free community event with Holistic Harlem, Inc., featuring Laughter Yoga with Ifacho Okeke and Hoop Yogini with Venetria Moon Ra. This event focuses on wellness, self-care, and empowerment for women in celebration of National Nutrition Month.
April 2025: National Jazz Appreciation Month
● Masters & Lions Series April 7-8, 9 PM – 12 AM NAMA resumes its partnership with Harlem Late Night Jazz (HLNJ) with the celebrated Masters & Lions jazz series. Featuring world-class musicians and rising stars of the genre.
● Blended Souls (MNJ) April 7 | 7 PM – 11 PM
Special performance by Blended Souls in our Monday Night Jam series.
● Jazz Club Revival Week April 14 | 9 PM – 12 AM Captain & Nu Gypsies headline this exciting event, which kicks off Harlem Late Night Jazz’s Annual Jazz Club Revival Week at NAMA.
● Jazz History Tree Presentation April 15 | 7 PM – 9 PM Dakota Pippins presents an immersive experience exploring the rich history of jazz, followed by a special performance by Legendary NEA Jazz Artist Reggie Workman and students from the New School.
● Extended Wednesday Night Jam April 16, 9 PM – 1 AM Join us for an extended session where all the jazz greats come together for an unforgettable jam.
● Jazz Appreciation Night April 19 | 9 PM – 12 AM A collaboration between NAMA and Harlem Late Night Jazz, featuring Annette St. John & JOURNI Band celebrating jazz legends with special performances.
● Health Matters in Harlem: Health Themes April 27 | 1 PM – 3 PM Free to the community, this event focuses on a new health theme, bringing together health consultants and wellness experts to provide valuable resources and guidance for Harlem residents.
May 2025
● Afro Latin Jazz Big Band Clinic May 2 | 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM Saxophonist Rolando Briceno leads this exciting clinic on Afro-Latin jazz, featuring an immersive exploration of the rhythms and sounds of this vibrant genre.
● African Drum Class for Children & Families May 3 | 1 PM – 3 PM A special interactive event for children and families led by Bro. Yahaya, where attendees will explore the beats and rhythms of African drumming
● Weekly: Music of the Diaspora (Monday Nights Jam & Open Mic) Ongoing, every Monday from 7 PM – 11 PM
● Masters & Lions Series Ongoing throughout May with Harlem Late Night Jazz.
● Health Matters in Harlem: Vision Board Workshop (Part 2) May 18 | 1 PM – 3 PM Join us for the second part of our Vision Board Workshop, helping you manifest your health and wellness goals, followed by a powerful presentation on personal empowerment and well-being.
June 2025
● Father's Day Event (Location TBA) A special celebration for Father's Day with live music and festivities.
● West 130th Street Co-Naming Ceremony Date TBD A historic celebration marking the co-naming of West 130th Street as New Amsterdam Musical Association Way, honoring NAMA’s legacy in Harlem. September 2025
● NAMA Legends Coltrane After Party September 2025 | Date TBD Celebrate the legacy of John Coltrane during the Senator John Coltrane Jazz Appreciation Festival with an unforgettable after-party featuring live jazz performances.
