This month, we will launch The Menschel Lecture Series, a new initiative designed to bring notable speakers together to discuss timely topics in New York City and beyond.
Our inaugural program will explore how Shirley Chisholm's candidacy for the Democratic Nomination in 1972 paved the way for Kamala Harris and highlighted the crucial role of Black women in shaping our democracy. We’ll be joined by esteemed guest speakers: Dr. Jelani Cobb, Dean of Journalism at Columbia University and writer for The New Yorker; Dr. Zinga Fraser, Director of the Shirley Chisholm Project at Brooklyn College and Co-Curator of Changing the Face of Democracy; and Dr. Keisha Blain, Professor of Africana Studies and History at Brown University.Get Tickets
