Manhattanville Market’ the New Chef-driven Community Food Hall Opens in West Harlem - One Location, Four Dining Options

Posted June 17, 2021

After almost three years in the making, multi-concept food hall, Manhattanville Market, is now open at the Jerome L. Greene Science Center (3227 Broadway) within Columbia University’s new West Harlem campus.

Open to both the university community and the general public, the hall provides new and affordable culinary dining options for the neighborhood. Created by Chef Franklin Becker in partnership with Columbia University, the hall will host four fast-casual dining options to start: Butterfunk Biscuit run by Chef Chris Scott, Mediterranean-inspired Shai Hummusiya, Sicilian pizzeria Benny Casanova’s, and salad concept The Botanist.

Committed to hiring staff from the surrounding area, Becker and his team are seeking to work with as many local providers, purveyors, and community culinary talent as possible. Later this fall, a full-service Spanish tapas restaurant, Oliva, will open, bringing a full drink menu to the space. Offering a connective central hub for the Harlem community, Manhattanville Market will host seasonal bazaars for local vendors to sell their artisanal products and farm-fresh produce, as well as  provide a venue for guest chefs, speakers, and pop-up events throughout the year. Overall, the food hall will provide a thriving atmosphere and engaging collaborative space for students, guests, and the local community.

All of the restaurants will be available for dine-in, take-out, and delivery, and be open from 11AM to 7PM daily.
